BLM PROTESTS UPDATE #FREEKC
Updated: Apr 13, 2021
We have received an overwhelming amount of support over the past week and we are GRATEFUL. Some of you may not know that the KC Community Bail Fund has been in existence for over one year. We started with a goal to end pretrial detention and advocate for policy change to end cash bail in Kansas City by paying people's bail who could not afford it - that is still our mission. When protesters and organizers began mobilizing around the country to seek justice for Black lives and speak out against police brutality, we made ourselves available to post bail for protesters in Kansas City. We have been working around the clock each day since the protests started to advocate for Black lives and make our selves available to support the arrested protesters with bail and jail support. We will continue to keep ourselves available and stand in solidarity with the protesters out there fighting for radical change. We thank our community so much for providing us with support during this time, we are working diligently to be good stewards of the funds we have received through donations and be available around the clock to post bail for as many arrested protesters as possible. We also urge you to support other organizations who are supporting the Black community now and in the future.
These organizations include (but are not limited to):
https://onestrugglekc.wordpress.com/

To the protesters out there - we thank you for your dedication and solidarity. We are here for you! If you are arrested or see anyone arrested at these protests, marches, and demonstrations please call us at 816-562-0952. We will post 100% of the bail - no bail bonds will be used and we do not need anything paid back. We will follow up with you to provide you with as many resources as possible post-release.
We will continue updating the community about our progress and mission in the coming weeks.
In solidarity,
KCCBF.
